Physicians Formula The Healthy Foundation SPF 20

I am currently on the search for more affordable makeup options and I picked up a few  items that I will be reviewing over the next few weeks for you. The new Physicians Formula Healthy Foundation caught my eye mostly because of the packaging.

Physicians Formula The Healthy Foundation SPF 20

This foundation comes in 12 shades which is decent but I do think that area could use some improvement because I had a rough time finding my correct shade. This foundation states that it’s supposed to brighten, hydrate, and even out your skin tone while maintaining a natural look. I have combination skin and currently during winter I tend to be a little on the dry side. I will say that I love the packaging on this foundation! It looks just like the packaging Dior uses on some of their foundations. Love the applicator it is easy to use. I think that at $12.99 it is pretty affordable drug store option. I will say immediately I noticed a weird smell with the foundation it kind of reminded me of the smell of paint. I know that sounds odd but that is just my honest opinion. The smell did not bother me at all because it wasn’t an overpowering smell.

Here I am with absolutely no makeup just my regular skin care. I like to truly share what my skin looks like with no makeup on because you can really tell if the foundation makes a difference. I have a very uneven skin tone, I have freckles and I have the occasional breakout.

This is how the foundation looks with no other makeup products on my face. It provides a very natural look but at the same time it is full coverage. The foundation is very matte.

I chose a very natural makeup look with the foundation. I think I did struggle a little with the shade of the foundation I don’t particularly feel like any of the shades really matched me. I like the coverage and I liked how lightweight it was on my skin. The foundation did not feel moisturizing but it did brighten up my skin tone and evened it up. My makeup lasted all day for the most part. After a long day I did notice that the foundation did start to get a little cakey around my nose. I think that if you are very dry I wouldn’t recommend this foundation due to how matte it is. Overall this is a good foundation for the price. If you look below at the closeup it looks very natural and the rest of my makeup lays nicely on top of the foundation. Bobbi Brown Skin Long-Wear Weightless Foundation SPF 15 Review

I was at Sephora the other day and I noticed that Bobbi Brown had came out with a new foundation and of course I had to buy it! I wanted to do a review on this new foundation and give you my honest thoughts on it. This foundation claims to last 16 hours and to have a lightweight matte finish. It runs at $46 which makes it a high end foundation. My expectations are higher I will not lie due to the price tag! Like I said you can find it at Sephora.

I like to make sure that before I apply any foundation I have a clean canvas and I make sure that I follow my skin care routine. I also have to apply primer before wearing any foundation. Right now my favorite primer is Makeup Forever Hydrating Primer. I have combination skin but since it has been colder my skin tends to be on the dryer side. I love applying my foundation with a damp beauty blender I just feel like coverage is a lot better when I do so. When I do decide to use a brush I like using a flat head kabuki brush.

This is my picture with no makeup on!

My first impression of the foundation is the smell is strong. The coverage is good and I would say it is full coverage but buildable. It feels lightweight and has creamy consistency. If you look closely at the pictures its a very matte foundation. The pictures below have no filters and I feel like my skin looks pretty flawless. I do set my face with the SEPHORA MicroSmooth Baked Foundation Face Powder with every single foundation that I use so I wanted to do the same thing with this new foundation. I will do a wear test as part of my final thoughts as well.

So this is me after using this foundation all day! I used it from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. which is over 12 hours. I work at an office job but I do go out and about all day and I truly feel like the foundation still looks really good. I did not touch up all day but to be honest I usually tend not to touch up my face! Overall I love the foundation I do wish the smell didn’t have that perfume smell but it’s a great long wearing foundation that I truly feel works well with my combination skin. If you are looking for a “natural” finish I would not recommend this but if you are looking for a high coverage foundation this is a good option for you. This foundation is definitely a keeper for me!
